I have been noticing a lot of posts about how bad todays kids and the world is so bad compared to our youth by a lot of people that are my age or near it. I wonder if we are looking out the side mirror of our life where, at least some things look smaller than they really are. During my lifetime we dealt with a lot of issues in society including a bunch during my youth. Anyone remember things like Studio 54, Vietnam War, spitting on soldiers, going to Canada to avoid the war, protests, free love, rampant drug use, the Cold War (still cant believe they made us practice getting under our desks in the event of a nuclear war!), AIDS and people who said those with AIDS that died was Gods way of getting rid of fags? My point is that it is easy to forget all of the troubles from our youth and just remember the good things while judging the youth of today much harsher. It seems to me a lot of people my age and a little older lived and maybe celebrated the wild things of our youth and now judge the youth of today under a microscope rather than see we had a lot of people doing the same things when we were young. Not condoning it at all but I would rather be tolerant and believe they in fact will become more like our generation did. Wild in our youth and grow up and be more responsible as they age. Holding hope for our future generations and seeing our lives were not as innocent when we were young as we would like to believe. Hope I dont offend anyone, just felt we need to turn around and look back in full view rather than look out a selective mirror (or memories).
