I have been thinking this morning about Job and the trials he faced. He had friends, and even a WIFE who saw his suffering as a sign that his faith was not what it should be or that he had some hidden sin in his life and therefore deserved what he was suffering. I couldnt help but make the connection between the attitude of his friends and the teaching of todays modern televangelists who tell us that if we trust God (in their warped view of who He is), we will be free of all sickness, be wealthy and healthy and happy all the time and a bunch of other such complete nonsense. According to these fools, the reverse is also true. If we have hidden sin or we have little faith, we will be poverty stricken, sick, etc. How are they any different than Jobs circle who condemned the man of God as a sinner? There IS no difference. These TV preachers and their disciples make sport of all who suffer in any way, claiming superiority over them. What a rude awakening they will have when God exposes the error of their ways. The first shall be last and the last first. God will avenge HIS people against even the pretentious false prophets who do not understand that sufferings produce perseverance and character in those who trust in the Lord.
