I have concerns about the NFL suspending Ray Rice indefinitely. - TopicsExpress

I have concerns about the NFL suspending Ray Rice indefinitely. His actions are sickening, but my questions about this punishment are these: 1. After taking much criticism for issuing the original two-game suspension for Ray Rice, NFL commish Roger Goodell sent a memo to NFL owners that domestic violence would result in a 6-game ban. It seems, instead of an indefinite suspension, the most Goodell can suspend Rice is six games, per his own new rule. 2. Double jeopardy is also part of the NFLs collective bargaining agreement. A player cannot be punished twice for the same incident. Just because the NFL now says it has new evidence, its all part of the same crime. So technically, shouldnt the NFL be forced to swallow this bitter pill and agree that it cant punish Rice a second time for the same incident which resulted in an original two-game ban? Im in no way condoning what Ray Rice did. He absolutely deserves to be punished to the fullest extent allowed by law, both in civilian courts and by the NFL. But rights are rights and in my opinion, the NFL continues to botch this entire case.
