I have had it with Subway. I wrote them a letter explaining the source of our disagreement: I just visited the Azle Subway Sandwiches and Salads location. I would like to share my dismay with a growing trend. I have, for health reasons, decided to return to a whole food, plant based diet as much as possible. Your Veggie Delite sandwich, minus the cheese, would seem to be a choice that would satisfy. That assumption is flat wrong. I have noticed a trend to really be stingy with vegetables. Are your employees told that their pay will be docked if they put more than 9 leaves of spinach on a footlong? Because that is what is happening. I understand, slightly, not wanting to over-apply vegetables - it can make a sandwich a mess. But when someone orders a Veggie Delite and indicates that they will just need a few things on it and names off spinach as the base and - without cheese, mind you - a scant and sorry base of spinach is laid down, it leaves your customer wondering what about their order is incomprehensible to the employee. I responded by asking for more spinach, this request was met with five additional leaves being placed on the sandwich, followed by a look for approval. That was when I decided that your employee had effectively punished me out of thinking a sandwich should have any sort of filling. It was par for the course to have less than a dozen olive rings, four banana pepper parts, and maybe five little pieces of green pepper. Does that sound like a sandwich to you? At best, I consider that toast with annoying stuff on it. If I want toast, I am better off going home, getting in my jammies, and enjoying some quiet time eating fresh warm toast on my couch. I have no need of Subway in this scenario. You have shown that you want to serve toast. It is not like I am asking for a half pound of spinach. How about something reasonable? We both know that I am not going to put you out of business if you put a respectable amount of veggies on what you are marketing as a sandwich. Can you illuminate why this is so? Do kids these days just not know that people are not flocking to Subway to gnaw on a partial loaf with little substance? Play games with carnivores when it comes to vegetables - but dont try to pass off that sad excuse as a Veggie Delite.
