I have noticed that websites around Facebook, Craigslist as well as local classified ads posting horses for sale is growing more popular all the time. There is something that really bothers me though. It seems there is so very much taking place in the breeding to make the high dollar horse because of bloodlines that show on the paperwork. I mean, how does that paper help you to ride, bond or work with said horse? Does the horse know they have papers saying that they are a great horse? Do those papers tell you that the horse has a kind heart? .. Bonds well with his human? ... Will trust you in time or has the ability to be the best friend youll ever have? ... Will paperwork tell you that she will allow you to cry in her mane or lay across her back and as you vent your sorrows and never judge you for mistakes your past may hold? I dont think so ... and I also dont think the papers are worth anything more than something to build a fire with. I have seen horses listed in many places that held the value of a house or car. I have many friends standing in my pasture OR that have been adopted to loving homes and none of them have papers that put any value to them for bloodlines. They have earned their place in my heart simply by needing our love and then returning it back without question. There is no breeding taking place, no champion bloodlines with sire and dams to boast of ... However, I see perfection and priceless companionship of the magnificent creatures that fate has seen fit to cross into our path. Ive had about 3 offers for Jackson and people wanting to adopt him. All these babies here hold value to me & some will never be adopted due to their age or imperfections but, they will live out their days here with us ... welcomed, honored and loved. Jackson is a special friend to me ... money could not buy him ... you cant put a price on love and friendship. This horse is more human than most people I know. He has carried my weight, lifted my spirits and had me laughing out loud with sweet and silly antics when he feels my attention to business has made me way too serious. Jackson looks me directly in the eye and with silent perfection ... tells me how much he loves me. There is NO paper or certificate that could ever put any more value to him (or any other horse I love) than he already holds with me. Save your money and save a life ... the reward will not be on paper ... nor will it make you wealthy in material possession but, it will cause your heart to grow beyond anything expected and intertwine your life with an unselfish love you will forever carry with you.
