I have owned an original venue with mostly metal and rock for 21 yrs. People are sucking the teat of asinine lameness worse right now than ever in the history of live original metal and rock venues.They are all addicted to corporate turd venues and fancy amphitheaters with $75 tickets, $10 beers and $5 hot dogs but wont support real up close intimate music and pay $5 to $10 cover charges to see 4 bands. Not to mention they are flocking to shitty cover bands and tripping on the memory lane of music long gone by played by people who think getting paid a pittance for bar gigs takes priority over being music artists. And that whining complaint of mine doesnt even touch on the local original bands having a newly revised shitty attitude half the time and not showing up for their own gigs or refusing to play to support touring bands. Not only are we getting shit on from the corporate addicted turds we are getting shit on by our own local bands. And they still expect the venues to just magically stay open for when they do get the nostalgia to play somewhere besides a corporate venue that requires 400 presale tickets, even for a billing of all local bands. Ok now I feel a slivers worth better having told the truth but it still doesnt take us a step closer to figuring out what can be done to wake people up. If we cant wake up that 70% of local musicians who no longer give a shit, then we sure cant get the general public to take up their slack. Wake up local musicians everywhere and start regularly just going to original venues and take a couple of friends with you. make a lifestyle out of going to shows at intimate venues where you can meet other bands or continue to lose out to the corporate turds because you just didnt give enough of a damn to support the scene where it truly counts, at the original non-corporate privately owned venues.
