I have pinned many things off Pinterest and this idea of dressing a mannequin in cedar bows has been on my to do list awhile now. If you have a mannequin and want to try a similar look this only took me a few minutes. I bought two bunches of cedar from my local Garden center. Honestly, I could have bought more but I cheated and this is why! No one will see the back of mine so there was no need to cover her bum. If you want to make the skirt more full or add length then I suggest you buy more than the two bunches. To add length I would use mini zap straps, over lap the branches and zap them together. The first step was using a burlap bag to act as the top part of her dress by simply wrapping it around her and pinning it in the waste and breast area. I folded the collar area up to create an more elegant collar and open neck line. You could dress up the neck line with your own personal jewelry. I ended up placing one on her after the photo shoot! I tied a heavy duty jute rope around her waste tight. I then slipped the cedar under the rope that was acting as a belt, each time I slipped one in it became more tot. Now the fun part dressing up the belt line. I choose to use a red tartan ribbon with wire in the edge to make it hold good form once I tied a bow. I think it finishes off her outfit nicely! :) Having asked the ladies at the garden center these greens should keep about 2 weeks in the house. I was looking at her now and thinking that those battery operated string lights would be nice placed in the cedar. I may have to add a bit more sparkle to my gal this week!
