I have promised I would write more about wonderful Carols in The Domain 2014. Tomorrow will be just a week since I was actually there, in person, me, an American, currently from the great USA Northwest!, Me, who dreamed coming to Carols three years ago when I saw Judith Durham perform on this wonderful Youtube clip: https://youtube/watch?v=jmSJXUFDAPQ. Judith was so joyous, so exquisite in this 2011 performance, that I vowed I would experience the wonderful celebration that is Carols in The Domain in person, sometime in my life. I fulfilled this dream last Saturday, September 20th, in Sydney, Australia. It seems incredibly surreal to realize now, from my vantage here in Plymouth, Minnesota, USA, that I did not dream that I was actually there, sitting in the far left, most forward VIP section, closest to the stage in the front row, with a wonderful view of both the stage and the jumbotron. I was surprisingly at home, absorbing the beautiful celebratory and reverent spirit of this wonderful show, so perfectly, so joyously offered with so much gorgeous happiness, and, so significant, I think, was the happiness and peace among the vast myriad spectators. Throughout the evening, I would glance behind me at the vast sea of red candles aglow, far into the distance, surrounded by the majestic city, and have to gasp as the spectacle of harmony and beauty it represented. When Judith performed, she just seemed at home, to belong so well fitted to share her gift and heart with us, especially for the sake of Christmas. As an avid Seekers fan for the past fifty years, I well know that Judiths heart is utterly encased in love, so soft and tender, that, I think, if she could, she would sing forever, so delighted is she to impart happiness to everyone. In singing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing!, Judith gives us the essence of the Christmas message. This truth is so profound, so staggering in its power and significance, that there is no packaging or frame that can contain it, but Judiths beauty in her voice, her facial expression and her embodiment of the purest love in her essence comes as close as humanly possible. I hope she can keep performing in Carols for many years to come, if she so desires. Also beyond wonderful was Mark Vincents The Holy City https://youtube/watch?v=7eGcJ3k2Ve8, which had me in tears, so perfectly, so beautifully rendered was this depiction of this incredible city waiting for believers in Heaven. I sincerely doubt anyone present was focused elsewhere when Mr. Vincent so emotively described this wonderful city... and, I believe the waiting is not so long anymore.... Finally I have to credit Mr. Graeme Press, who was Judiths musical director for her Colors of My Life solo concert in 2012, also musical director for The Seekers 50th Anniversary tour, and has been musical director for Carols in the Domain for some year now, with creating such a glorious atmosphere, fraught with excellence and so alive with the joyous, appropriate message. He seems a humble, unpretentious gentleman, who, like Judith and The Seekers, seems to realize for what purpose he was given such gifts, and to have the loving heart to use these wisely. I am in awe of his vision, and I am in awe of the accomplishment of Carols in The Domain 2014. Now, I wish to return next year, with all of my Australian family, and with those of my American family who are able, accompanying me. And just now I found the entire show on Youtube. https://youtube/watch?v=7eGcJ3k2Ve8 Please enjoy, everybody...
