I have to give it to Hans Zimmer, any time I hear music that moves me in a movie, chances are he was the composer. Case in point, I just started watching Amazing Spiderman 2 and for the first 10 minutes the opening score is your typical 16 note ostinato action motif, BUT, what he does ingeniously is morph the theme starting from foreboding, into a heroic feel, then comedic, it moves into a rock-like vibe, to finally go back to the bad guy/foreboding theme, and does this seamlessly. Goes to show you, sometimes its not about the composing, but it is the arrangement that gives a piece life. I know these days he has a full team behind him, but I have to give it to him, he nails it every time. I watched Interstellar last night and his idea of using a pipe organ to accent the dramatic parts was brilliant (albeit not entirely original as Ennio Morricone did the same on Mission to Mars), and really set the mood for me.
