I have to share this one-- As I am working on my dissertation, this one serves as one of my favorite pieces by Brahms-- Its stirring, rich in chord clusters as well as a gorgeous melody-- and lots of fun to play... Nikolai Luganky does a beautiful interpretation and he lets the piece breathe as he plays-- Brahms did wonders on the piano and he had amazing technique in composing. He was one of the leading composers in the late Romantic era (also known as Englands Victorian Period) Brahms was not hesitant to find ways to stretch the hands and to develop tones that added more color to the music.
