I heard the most astounding thing recently. The director of a local historical site remarked, I cant see why living historians/reenactors expect to get paid for showing up. We give them a place to play, they should pay us. What do you think of this? Most of us go to these sites to help out by volunteering our time and encouraging the public to attend events. Do you think the public would still be interested in a historic site if all there were just a bunch of old buildings and no interpreters? Gettysburg aside...have you/would you pay to participate at an event?
