I hope I dont get unfriended, but here it goes: I have never been a Black Friday shopper and never will be. A friend of mine made a good point yesterday that I would like to share. Everyone is complaining about shoppers being the reason people have to work on Thanksgiving. There are so many other people also working the holiday. Did you watch the parade? Did you watch any of the 3 football games on TV? Did you have your radio on in the car as you traveled? Each of these had to have many employees working yesterday to make them all possible for us to enjoy...on a holiday. I did all of these things....guess Im an awful person. And God forbid, if you had an emergency and had to call for help...more people working on a holiday. Its all in the profession you choose. I grew up missing lots of holidays with my parents, including Christmas morning when I was young. My mom was a nurse (shame on all of you for having a baby on a holiday making her have to work) and my dad was a fire fighter and EMT (good thing he was there to save lives on a holiday). I dont ever remember complaining about it when I was growing up. Be thankful for the job that you chose to put money in your pocket. Even Don has missed holiday dinners, usually Easter dinner because he chooses to work in the sports field. SU womens lax always plays on Easter! He just says, what am I going to do...someone has to do it. The entire concept of yesterday was being thankful. How soon we forget.....
