I just cleaned my gutters. It only took about 10 minutes (for the small patch that gets full). Why so quick? Well, lets go back about 5 years to the day I was in Home Depot and saw this neat thing that attached to your hose. It was a metal pipe with a U toward the end, and a nozzle on the end. I should have bought it, but I didnt. I went back a few weeks later and couldnt find it. I asked about it and a very rude, condescending male employee said there is no such thing. They dont carry them, they never have, and they do not exist! I told him exactly where I had seen them, but he argued. Not cool! He pushed my oh yeah!? button. So I wandered through the store thinking. I passed the ShopVacs and saw the same model as the one I have at home. A lightbulb went off over my head. I had a plan! I went to the PVC aisle and picked up a long pipe, an u-shaped pipe, a flexible rubber coupling with hose clamps and some pipe cement. I carried this stuff back over to where the shopvacs were and checked to see if the hose and the PVC were close enough in diameter to pull this off if I attached them with the rubber coupling. YUP! It should work. The rude employee walked by me and I think he figured out what I was up to. He rolled his eyes at me. Oh, thanks for the extra ounce of determination! Home I went. 2 cuts with a hacksaw, a little pipe cement and voila. I made a device to hook up to my ShopVac. Now cleaning the gutters takes hardly any time or effort, and I usually just have to empty the vac half way through the cleaning. I stand on the ground and just gently move the nozzle along the gutters. Rarely I will get some twigs and have to manually remove them from the tube, but that takes a second. So now my gutters are nice and clean for the upcoming rain. No more waterfall. (Oh, and I am so glad I didnt get the one that attaches to your hose. A huge waste of water and they make a huge, dirty mess all over the ground and the operator....And, I saw them at Home Depot the other day.)
