I just found out that the Geography course and lab that I took during community college is now considered to be credit towards my degree. I should be happy about this, right? Heres the deal. I have been fighting to get this course and lab counted since 2012 when I started back up at the University of Mississippi. After providing documents from the community college with the course description and several visits to the school of applied sciences, I was turned down time and again. So, I threw in the towel on that fight I signed up for Astronomy, which I am taking now. After recently submitting my degree application, the school sent back my degree progress report stating that my additional science and lab requirement had been fulfilled via my Geography course and lab. Conclusion: I am taking Astronomy for no reason. If I drop astronomy, I am only at 9 hours of course work which puts be below my full-time student requirement. So, I am stuck with a class that I did not need to take which I could have replaced with something else. At least I know I can get an A in Astronomy to boost my GPA. I guess that works.
