I just had a Linkedin message from a person that called himself a "coach". One of my goals is to educate people on what a COACH truly is in the Counseling/Coaching field. There are people that call themselves coaches that are not certified and have not been through a training program, or a certified training program, at best. If you are talking to someone that calls him(her)self a "coach", ask, "What program where you certified through?", "Are you a member of ICF (International Coaching Federation), IAC (International Association of Coaches), CCN (Christian Coach Network) or another well established organization", and ask for a couple of references? There are established Code of Ethics and criteria to maintain the integrity of the field that must be followed by a Professional Coach. CERTIFICATION COUNTS.
