I just read the article about how the murderer Elliot Rodgers “strikes a chord among nerds” . The article outlines a group of nerds that “understand” Rodgers frustrations, and actions, even though they don’t condone the violence. Why does the “nerd” segment of the population believe that they are owed attention by women? I understand the entertainment industry places a ridiculous emphasis on relationships but the entertainment industry also presents movies about mutants with special magical powers and a giant dinosaur that destroys cities too. Our media sources are trying so very hard to put a face on the murderer so people can get to know them and relate to the murderer’s plight. Sorry, we’re not falling for it. Regardless of the reasons behind it, mass murderers will not get my empathy. They are a big part of the reason I carry a concealed carry firearm.
