I just received the heart shaking news yesterday that my dear Grandmother Tweedy, a wondrous being, has passed on, peacefully, in her sleep and in the comfort of her own home - where shes spent much of her life, where my mother and aunts and uncle were raised, where my parents were married, and where the extended family has congregated once a month for my entire life. My mother and her brother and sister, and others of the great Tweedy kin, have taken loving care of her for well over a year since she had a stroke - up until this she was still incredibly present, able to live by herself, and with a stronger memory than even I have, and afterwards she was still present but unable to live alone. It comes as a grief and shock that shes not around, and wont be sitting in the ol house the next time I walk in the door, and that I cant write her any more letters from out and about. It looks as though her life will be celebrated next Saturday, on what would have been her 96th birthday, so Ill be flying back from Berlin to be with the family, and to juggle a bit, which she had said she wanted there. No need to feel sorry for the loss - Im just happy to have had such a light in my life, and such a loving family in all. Here she is in her home 2 years back, talking with cousin Will about the family and farm life, enjoy!
