I just saw Noah. Noah probably should not be used as an aid in any kids Sunday School Class. The film would not be the best medium to introduce the ideas presented in The Book of Genesis. However, there are pieces of the film which are absolutely incredible. Director, Darren Aronofsky, has been quoted saying, Noah is the least biblical biblical film ever made. No one can really speak to his intentions except him, but, after seeing the film, if his intent was to create a film that was unbiblical, he failed. Somehow in the midst of the action sequences, revisionist characters, an interesting take on fallen angels, and a greatly altered timeline, Aronofsky managed to honor what is most important about the full creation story found in The Book of Genesis. He was able to show the Fall of Man in a way that hasnt been hinted at since Milton or Twain. He honored the dichotomy of the two creation stories and their different interpretations. There is even a sequence that displays the six-day creation in splendor. He found a way to hint at the impetus of the Noachide (Noahide) Laws (Those are relevant for all you Gentiles out there). All in all, Noah is as accurate as DeMilles The Ten Commandments, as biblical as The Passion of the Christ. Though, Gods name was never spoken in Noah, Gods presence was never absent.
