I just saw the movie Son Of God. I dont want to give some kind of subjective critique of I thought. Yet I have to say that I did not like it, on the basis of how much they took artistic licence to veer away from the Bible. Now, dont get me wrong, it was based entirely on the Bible. Its just that they have such a strong Roman Catholic agenda that they butchered important parts of the story. This was done unsubtle ways such as Jesus ascending from a small hill at the bottom of a deep valley...not from the Mount of Olives overlooking Jerusalem. There were more serious flaws where the text gets jumbled such as them making Nicodemus the right hand man to the high priest who is an antagonist who challenges Jesus until the crucifixion where maybe he has second thoughts. They take this so far as to make him the one who challenges Jesus about whether it is right to pay taxes. He only goes to speak with Jesus at the end of the movie. Then there is the grotesque obsession with the hole in Jesus hand. It looks more like someone poured acid on his hand than put a spike through it. They copy much from Mel Gibson, but take it even further into catholic doctrine. I recommend sticking with the book instead. P. Rob
