I learned quickly tonight that being a nurse when you are a mother can be somewhat of a curse....you know too much and can drive yourself crazy trying to figure out what is wrong with your daughter. Thankful for the UnityPoint Health Fort Dodge ER Dr Touney and nurses for providing the best care, for their compassion with our angel girl and how quickly they thoroughly worked her up and kept me informed. All tests, UA, blood, chest X-ray, Influenza A&B NEGATIVE...thank the Lord. But an unknown cause of fever....rather viral or bacterial at this point we dont know but her WBC are high at 17..normal for her age is 6-11. She has literally no other symptoms besides this fever and thrown up a few times dr said stomach flu wouldnt cause that high of wbc count. Dr prescribed ATB and after basically a combined dose of Tylenol and ibuprofen she is still without a fever. Since about 1830. Will watch her closely the next few days and follow up with Dr Wallace Monday. Also thanks to Dr Minion for calling me personally with her lab results. And thank you to all of you for the prayers!! Is it spring yet!?!? These bugs are scary!! Prayers for good health for everyone!❤️
