I may be 22 years old, but I am too old to be blackmailed into voting, by the use of campaign slogans such as Vote ANC, do it for Chris Hani, or Vote ANC, do it for Tambo. The most infuriating of all campaigns is this nonsense of the Born Free Generation being blackmailed to Vote ANC, do it for Madiba. You see, once anyone starts undermining me to a point of reducing my thinking capacity to nothingness, such that they think I am so mindless that I am moved by slogans alone, then that person does not take me seriously, and once you do not take my vote as a youth and a first time voter seriously, you are not taking this country seriously and therefore, you cannot be taken seriously by me yourself. If you cannot engage me properly like a person who has a functioning mind, and you think I deserve to be drowned in slogans that you cannot even explain beyond howling them, then mina nawe siyajwayelana and we must agree that we have nothing to offer each other. And we must then further agree that you will get out of my apartment and go campaign kini.
