I needed a new paper shredder because our old was broken. I have yet to see one made outside China. My Nokia phone could have been made in China. 1/3 of Nokias manufacturing is done in China. Goggle recently sold the Motorola Mobility business to Lenovo, a Chinese company that used to be IBMs personal computer arm. Get with it guys, you can do better. The US is good enough to market your products in, but we are not good enough to have them made here? Samsung is not much better. One of their production facilities is in China. So the US is good enough to sell your stuff and have 30000 soldiers there to help protect your nation, but you have production facilities that , either directly (China) or indirectly (China helping North Korea) a threat to you. Time we reconsider buying your stuff and pull our troops out. LG is another company that has substantial interest in China. They have 14 subsidiaries in China, compare to 3 in the US. LG is another company that we should consider not doing business with. They are in Seoul, not far from the DMZ with North Korea. So the US is good enough to sell your stuff and have 30000 soldiers there to help protect your nation, but you have production facilities in countries that , either directly (China) or indirectly (China helping North Korea) a threat to you. Good job, Samsung and LG. Now, some of this was our own fault. It wasnt until recently that it was cost prohibitive to do this work in the US. We were getting more and work in these types of industries. But Pres Obama could threaten it with a minimum wage boost by using an Executive Order, basically putting it into effect without congressional approval. Very sneaking and a real abuse of his powers. Now these boost , according to the administration, are only for federal government contractors. If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. They forget the domino effect of this. Cost go up, and a company must make it up. If this is true, the government (and us, the citizens) will have to accept the same services at a higher price. It doesnt stop there. People dont get it that its not a living wage. Companies use it for a short period of time. Basically, its a scare tactic that politicians us to get votes. This a way they can use it to fuel for such things as making the situation one that is rich vs poor, haves vs have nots, etc. Very bad because it will have us more concerned about a win lose situation than win win (see Urys book, Negotiate to Yes ). Its to the effect of Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach him to fish, he eats for life. We have to be the best place to make things. We have a very strong work ethic. Our workers are very skilled. We still lead the world in terms of invention and innovation. This brings up the standard of living, not a government program/mandate/income redistribution.
