I never thought I will ever be writing a looong status update. But fulfillment of a dream that took 11 years to realize calls for the occasion to make an exception. I can still recall my college days when Abhijit sir first kindled my dream to do a PhD. Believe me sir if I didnt had that meeting I would not have reached this stage. I do have friends/relatives who till date firmly believe that I have destroyed my life by pursuing higher studies in an industry manipulated and choked by politics. I should have joined a sector with a lucrative pay package. Well no offence, you have your viewpoints and I have mine. Research did took its toll even inspired my doc to comment how are you even alive !!!. Surviving, kolkata without Fellowship, inquisitiveness of relatives/ well wishers. I even wanted to punch some of them for asking repeatedly when will you complete your PhD or stop studying !!! and get a job. I have seen people smile with problems/difficulties that would make others shiver (beleive me I have seen my fare share). Witnessed people whose determination, dedication, professionalism made me doubt about their origin (Earth or Mars). I have seen peoples dream get shattered to bits and others obtaining their PhD without breaking a sweat. Some of you might say there are situations/ emotions/ complications beyond my understanding. I agree but then again, a PhD should be earned not gifted. I never beleived in luck but sometimes I am tempted to think I might be lucky to get such an excellent PhD supervisor. Thank you Sir, you redefined the word RESEARCH for me !!! You dont need to have an IQ of Stephen Hawking to get a PhD, you need a disciplined mind, a supporting family and a good supervisor. Thats all. Stop being a Mr. become a Dr. ;) :D
