I normally do not post anything on Facebook because I either dont feel I have much to add or because I know Im not very good with formulating good clear thoughts. Therefore, I am doing this more for my benefit. Im trying to cope with the loss of a dear younger brother (John Shannon died this past Friday morning while yet in his forties) and hope that by typing these thoughts I will be able to release some of my sadness and anxiety. I do not know why he was taken at such a young age but I do know that our Heavenly Father has plans for each of us and he is in a much better place than I could ever imagine. I wasnt around much during his life due to the age difference and the many moves I made for my family and my job and yet I know John had a heart of gold. He had a pure innocence and compassion in serving family, friends and his country (recently retired from the Air Guard). I am grateful for the Plan of Salvation and know without a shadow of doubt we will be together again and enjoy an eternal embrace. Though the past two days have been tremendously difficult for me, frequently breaking down and crying out of control for his and our loss, my heart goes out to his wonderful mother and our older brother that were such great role models in his life. Their suffering is of my greatest concern. May God bless all of us and instill in our hearts a peace that only He can provide.
