I pay my bills through the work done by my company, Pen and - TopicsExpress

I pay my bills through the work done by my company, Pen and Azanian Revolution (Pty) Ltd. All the work I do as a writer, public speaker and editor is done through the company. This means that for me to keep afloat, the company needs to make money. Therefore, I must charge a service fee for giving presentations and writing. But despite all this, I think theres something unethical about charging a service fee for events organised by community based organisations and student organisations. I cannot find it in me to charge a service fee to people I know dont have resources. How do you charge an organisation in a township, run by people who can barely make ends meet, a service fee? How do you charge a service fee to run a political workshop for a branch in Joza? It is not right. I think for such organisations you ask only that they organise your transport and provide accommodation if possible. This month Im going to be broke because all the events Ive agreed to give presentations at are organised by students and community-based organisations. But Im looking forward to all of them, especially the Womens Month Seminar in the historic township of Mdantsane on the 30th, organised by young people of that community. If I have any rich friends who are feeling generous and have R2000 to burn, I wouldnt mind you buying and donating 10 copies of MEMOIRS OF A BORN FREE to the young women attending this workshop. Ill buy and donate 5. Thanks in advance.
