I read in the Freep today about a lesbian school teacher who was fired from Marion High School - an all girls catholic school. Apparently they could live with her being a lesbian, but when she got pregnant, they fired her. I heard about this some days ago, and while having dinner with some conservative friends, I brought the matter up. One of my friends was adamant, she should be fired!!. He was not interested in any details - it was a black & white issue to him. And that illustrates the difference between a conservative and a liberal. I, the liberal, had concerns for her. Thinking that perhaps those students might be denied a good teacher for several months - and now what would the teacher do to make a living? Compassion and empathy - think that is what separates us.
