I really have to completely disagree with todays message. Galatians 2:14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? (Galatians 2:14 NKJV) Im pretty sure Paul thought Peter was being a hypocrite because he was disregarding the law. What Paul thought was upsetting was that Peter went back and forth between regarding/disregarding the law. BUT!!!! Paul knew that by writing this, people would be misled into thinking law would save, thats why he wrote the subsequent verses, to reiterate that salvation is ONLY through Jesus. NOT fulfilling the law. YET SHOULD WE THEN DISREGARD THE LAW? We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! (Galatians 2:15-17 NKJV) V17 is so clear to me - Does the message of Christ compel me to sin? Does Jesus promote breaking the law, eating pork and shrimp, remaining uncircumcised, killing one another? As for Acts 10:9-16: My answer to this would be, did God really want Isaac to die when he made Abraham sacrifice his son? Does God really want you to consume crap? I leave you with this excerpt of a sermon from Pastor Joel Osteen! Paul, KC, please correct me where Im wrong!
