I really really wanted to keep it light today honest! But unfortunately, listening to Nick Ferrari baffled on LBC about Halle Berry not wanting her daughters hair to be relaxed. Once again, because no one has bothered to know what a relaxer is, the story has been spun to make out that Halle is nuts and people are incredulous about the so called simple issue of a child from wearing her hair in a style. For those too embarrassed to ask because really by now you probably should know about relaxers if you live im a contemporary city like London- they are creams made out of toxic chemicals that PERMANENTLY straighten Afro hair until new growth comes back, to stop the extreme burning of the scalp when applied, the scalp is greased with thick petroleum agents like Vaseline otherwise your skin will burn and peel off in scabs days later. Regular use damages the natural hair. I have my hair relaxed- this is not my natural hair ( again for people too embarrassed to ask). If you wish to investigate these creams yourself, upon mixing the White cream with the neutraliser I dare you to place on your skin for an hour and not call A&E... There is also a secondary concern about the universal beauty standards ideals of straight hair versus link and when a child can pass for being white, how that may traumatise her in later life to know that her dad was trying to probably help her in the short term feel more included with his family ...
