I remember many years back while doing my post-grad studies in Theology at the University of the Western Cape, one of my lecturers always said: Class, the Bible can either be used as a tool to build up or as a tool to destroy. It is like having a knife in your hand. U can use the knife to slice bread, peal potatoes and do many more household duties, and with tha same knife u can stab somebody to death or cause grevious bodily harm. She strongly emphasised the responsible use of the Word to make society a better place. I always loved her quote because it encouraged me to study the Word dilligently and to do my best to present myself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, and who correctly handles the word of truth. Suddenly I realised that the Word of Truth needs to be handled correctly or it will seize to be the Truth. I am of the view that no Scripture contradicts each other. There is truth in every text as long as it is understood within its own context. But the Truth misplaced and misquoted becomes heresy and opens up doors for misinterpretation. I therefore understood why the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy emphasisng that the Gospel should be entrusted to reliable men who will be also be qualified to teach others (2 Tim. 2:2). It saddens me when I see the amount of people who potray themselves as Biblical teachers on sites such as Facebook, but have little or no knowledge and insight on the Word,
