I saw a very frustrating video today of two young people who attended a recent pro-Palestine protest in Ottawa to show their support for Israel who were forced by the pro-Palestine protesters to leave while police stood idly by. This is Canada people, as Canadians we have a very rare and often squandered gift in that we are allowed to voice our beliefs and that we should feel safe doing so. The people who showed up to show support for the Israeli people had as much right to be there and as much cause (if you are enlightened enough to see the conflict from both sides) to be there as any of the other protesters and it is incredibly unjust and in my opinion the police should have stood up for these young peoples right to be there in a peaceful capacity. I am ashamed of the people who only see red and of the police that were present and did nothing. A similar incident happened in Calgary a week or so ago where a dozen pro-Israeli protesters were beaten to the point where they had to be hospitalized, police refused to step in and there has even been little to no media coverage of the incident. Please respect one another as Canadians and EQUALS, even if you have different points of views on a conflict that I know hits many of you very closely. I would also like to say that I support Israels right to defend itself, although I am saddened by the civilian deaths in Palestine, simply because if Israel loses and is overrun the civilian death toll will number 6,135,000, this is the number of Jewish inhabitants in Israel as of 2014.
