I see a lot of things on the Good Men Project that Im glad are out there and that I think are positive and beneficial. But then there are things like this that are unreasonably gendered and therefore problematic. Plus, the way the writer keeps saying your wife will... your wife willl... is not only presenting all wives/women as a sort of monolithic whole, but its really reminiscent of the style of animal training manuals. When you do this, your dog willl.... But I suppose the whole project is inherently reinforcing of gender normativity in its way, and thats hard to avoid. I hope it does more good than harm. Some of what theyre doing is really great, I just told Lisa, and some of it I have big problems with. I have very mixed feelings about them. Welcome to life, she said. So true.
