I story for children of all ages...in installments (I type slowly) The Soldier and the Twelve Dancing Princesses. Once,many years ago in a kingdom far from the sea and a very long way from high mountains or dark and mysterious forests there lived a King. (In my book there is a picture here of a worried looking king :0) He was a worried man, wrinkles ran like furrows of newly ploughed earth across his brow and his eyes were constantly swathed in dark circles. I imagine all of you are wondering what was troubling him? Well it was his twelve beautiful daughters. Oh he loved them, admired their talents, was delighted in how they helped in the kingdom but being older he hoped to see them happily united with true loves who would take care of them when he was too old himself. The trouble was they steadfastly refused all suitors and despite his best efforts were always too exhausted to rise before afternoon. However the most perplexing mystery of all was every day they demanded a new pair of dancing shoes! (Picture of worn out dancing shoes :)) Just as the poor King was at his wits end and in danger of having to raise taxes to afford all those velvet slippers, white leather slippers, crystal sown suade slippers and hand painted silk slippers a great piece of fortune favoured the King in the form of a most intelligent and diligent man named Henry, James, Swift.
