I think Ive mentioned this before but its a propos again. Traditionally Greeks dont celebrate birthdays, primarily because different occupying nations destroyed records in an effort to subjugate Greek language and culture. Nobody really knew when they were born. Instead we celebrate name days, and mine is today. I was named after my fathers father, another Greek tradition. Ioanis is my real given name, taken from, John the Baptist or Ioanis Chrysostome, meaning golden mouthed on account of his legendary eloquence. Another Greek tradition, and we have many, is that on your name day you must offer all you see, some sort of offering, a drink, a sweet, something. I want to honor the tradition but you are all so far away, but I think Ive got something. Our online magazine is about a week away from getting final approval and I would like to give everyone our first issue for free. Please go have a look and sign up, were almost there.
