I think it boils down to laziness or inadequate writing skills when a budding Nigerian writer gives Lack of ideas/stories as his excuse for not writing more often. Are you kidding me? This is NIGERIA! A land where the impossible is possible. The material available to a story writer in Nigeria is limitless. Within a broad climate of diverse cultures and traditions, there are endless variations of stories to choose from. It is very stimulating to live in a society that is not standardized, thrives on indiscipline, and free from monotony. Under such conditions, you only need to look out the window to pick up a character, and thereby a story. What I believe should be the greatest challenge for a young Nigerian writer is the Use/Expression of words; considering we are non-native English speakers and our educational system is crap. Painting pictures with words is a VERY DIFFICILT task, even for professional writers. That, is where I expect the young Nigerian writer to work on.
