I think that sudden, unexpected deaths are sometimes the ones that hit people hardest with the realization of just how valuable time is. Its such a corny or cliche feeling to say phrases that are so commonly said such as that, but perhaps that is how things become corny? Perhaps these words and phrases are repeated so frequently because that is simply how true to the human life they are. A lot of times we, as people, hear strings of sentences or advice or words of wisdom, yet we tend to release them from the mind just as quickly as they entered. We tend to drift away from allowing the time to let the meaning of thoughts, and words, and actions truly sink in until we are actually faced with the instance ourselves. Our species learns the hard way; and while that can be such an amazingly profound trait, we also need to be reminded to counteract that with the balance of knowing when to listen to the words that are gifted to us, versus insisting upon learning on our own once its theoretically too late. This past Friday I lost my close aunt, my mother lost her sister, my grandmother lost her daughter, my cousins lost their mother, and my uncle lost his partner. With all of this being said, the ultimate point Im arriving at is merely that I wish for you all, and myself, to stay aware that every moment is fleeting. Make it the best. Be positive. Be nice. Be understanding. Pay attention to the way people look, and smell, and feel. Visit your parents more, love your partner harder each day, call your grandparents, go to your family events shy of even one ounce of indifference. Just dont take time, and most importantly, dont let time take you.
