I think we can all agree that last night’s Halloween rave was awesome. And though I was privileged to host it, the greatness of it, as with any celebration was in the greatness of the people who came. Your costumes were incredible and you danced beautifully. Special thanks to Richard Cecil Hagans for his beautiful art, Hunter Sergio de Seale and his crew for laying down the beats, and Justin Weimer for the Red Bull Sponsorship. I love throwing a good party with my friends. We are beings made to celebrate and we humans do it well. But most of us young Christians don’t know what that looks like apart from sin, because that’s all we’ve ever seen. That is why I love creating an environment that allows people the opportunity to celebrate life in a good clean fun kind of way. There’s a subtle difference that I’m referring to, and it mostly has to do with the people you’re with and their intentions. But there have been many times in my life where I realized that, in order to have fun here, I’m going to have to cross some boundary that I know I shouldn’t. And so I either have to leave/not take part or I come away from those situations feeling somewhat dirty. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life trying enjoy the art of celebration. Id even say its one of my biggest flaws. Only God knows the extent to which I feel compelled to dance around on this earth. It took me a long time just to understand that God made me to be a dancing person, and it took and even longer time to realize that He really loves that about me. And so finding opportunities to express joy in that way has been a challenge. All that to say, last night helps me to realize that we can live holy lives of celebration and dancing together. We can and we will.
