I thought I would share with everyone something I recently discovered. It was also mentioned today on info for Logan lakers. And when I first seen it I was a little skeptical so I thought I would share my experience. Maybe you have heard of it, its called Medeo. You can use it online by computer or on your phone as an app. I used yesterday for the first time and I was really impressed by the system. Its basically a video chat with a doctor. (I took some screen shots Ill add In to show you what I was seeing. Pictures are in the comments) When you first start your session you are sent to a receptionist who asks you a few questions about your condition and sets up a time for you to talk to a doctor. I called around 10:45 and the receptionist said to log back on at 12:05 and I would be able to see a doctor at 12:15. She also asked me where I would like my prescriptions faxed if I needed any. And also asked where I normally get my blood work done, incase I needed any. I logged back on at 12:05 and the receptionist came back on the screen right away and told me that the doctor was talking to someone else right now but would be with me shortly. She told me not to leave the screen and to read the prompts above I then connected with the doctor who was very friendly. He asked me a series of questions and seemed genuinely concerned and wanted to help. Our conversation lasted less then 10 minutes, he wrote me a prescription and suggested some physiotherapy. He also said he would like to follow up with me to see if the prescription is working. I was really amazed with how easy the system was. How quickly I was able to talk to someone. And how professional the receptionist and doctor were. I got an email shortly after my conversation with the doctor to summarize what the appointment was about and with a date for a follow up appointment Obviously, having a doctor right in front of you is the best case scenario. But I think this system might be the perfect thing for a temporary solution for the residents of Logan Lake. After I had my appointment I was thinking about how easy that was. It is so difficult to get into a walk in clinic, not to mention time consuming. I was still a little bit skeptical so I called shoppers drug mart where I had my prescription sent to confirm they got it. And they said it was there and waiting. I asked if many people used this system and they said they get quite a few people who use it. It saves so much time, and its easy. And its free! As long as you are covered by msp they will talk to you. Again, I dont think its a permanent solution but it might help fill in the gaps while we are without a doctor. If youre using a computer, you have to have webcam capabilities. its just medeo.ca And if youre using your phone just search the app medeo
