I totally agree! Via Ronnie: The concept of prisons for punishment also makes no sense. I understand the reason for incarcerating people who are a danger to society -- PROTECTION. But if were using jails as PUNISHMENT and not for protection, then we are wasting a huge amount of taxpayer money and not helping people who made mistakes to be restored to function well in society. When they are released, they are more likely to commit crimes than when they were jailed. RESTORATIVE JUSTICE works: lower recidivism and significantly lower costs to society.
