I very seldom do this on fb but here goes.....I hope you can sleep - TopicsExpress

I very seldom do this on fb but here goes.....I hope you can sleep tonight. Let me preface this statement with the following. About a year ago in the middle of that horrible winter a black cat, about 6 months old was dropped on our doorstep. I tried to match it up with fb missing animals but to no avail. The cat would not let us touch it and ran from us. Then the snow began to fall. Jim caught it one night in a trap and was able to get it to the garage before it about broke its neck trying to get out of the trap so it slept in the garage for a few days and screamed at the top of its lungs until he opened the garage door and it ran out, never to be caught again. So I worried thru all the bad weather, feeding it enough til one day it allowed me to pet it and touch it for just a second. Those times have turned into more often and once I even got to pick it up for just a second. Its taken a year to get to this point. It still runs away when I put the food out and comes back after I back off. But its grown into a huge cat. I never wanted a second cat and I have begrudged that cat since the day it was dropped off. Today as I went down the road within a half mile of my house sat a 5-6 month calico cat. Obviously a drop off, no houses around. It ran into the woods when I slowed down. Now I have that one to worry about too. People, when will you realize that dropping off your cat or dog in the country can virtually be a death sentence. Keep telling yourself that it will go to someones barn and be their barn cat. Not going to happen. Some people will shoot that cat when it tears out their trash or kills their chickens because it is starved. And if its not shot, it will probably die when it eats aluminum foil or some other garbage coated with food smells. Or lastly, it will simply starve to death. What a wonderful death you gifted them. I myself will now worry about your unwanted cat so I hope you can sleep tonight because I wont. So the moral is, do not gift your children with animals you are not prepared to take care of. Do not get animals for yourself only to post on FB NEEDS GONE ASAP after having it for years. Remember we do have an awesome Humane Society that cares more than you do and will take that problem off your hands. Rant over. (for now)
