January 31st, 2014 update from Asher. So, while this update is very related to Expanse its not technically an update to Expanse itself. A good chunk of work over the last few months has been being done on producing a framework based on a lot of reading that Ive been doing. Im calling this framework Natural Fury and this is the beginnings of it. This framework is being setup with what should constitute a solid skeleton for putting together almost any game. Virtual classes abound, such as the newly implemented Process class, which are designed to make it possible for developers to simply extend the framework and produce any game they want. The engine still has a lot of work to be done, but its ultimately going to be the framework that Im going to be layering Expanse on top of. Im also completely up for continued open source development of the framework, thats why Im posting it here. Expanses codebase itself will not be available to the public (well... not right now, but I kind of expect to just release it in to the public domain some day.), but as Ive said to a lot of people: Im a big fan of trying to improve gaming itself, and releasing a framework to the general public is at least one way that I can do so.
