I visited with an elderly gentleman earlier in the week. During the course of the visit he shared a story from his childhood. As he was telling the story an amazing transformation took place. His eyes began to shine and his face took on a glow. Right before my eyes It seemed as if years had been lifted from his face. The power of story. Yesterday another person shared a story with me, a story of how God had moved in his life and how Gods touch had taken his stone-cold heart and turned it into a glowing coal. As he told his story I could feel the warmth of glowing heart. The power of story. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story— those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. (Psalm 107:1-3) Lord, when we tell the story of how You redeemed us, may our eyes shine and our hearts burn.
