I voted yes on HBs 4765 and 4766. These bills make several changes to the mortgage foreclosure process. First, they extend the sunset on loan modification program to January 9, 2014, at which point the program will cease. At that point federal rules will become enforceable and the state rules will be duplicative. It also requires that mortgage institutions all follow the same rules, regardless of the institutions size. Finally it reduces the redemption period for certain properties, targeted at abandoned properties. These reforms will keep a level playing field and keep state law from replicating federal law. HB 4765 passed 98-9 and HB 4766 passed 99-8.
