I want a Canada that publicly funds the whole media not just the CBC. Is this too much to expect ? To have a mass media where; 1. everyone has equal access to information and 2. everyone has an equal voice in how media funds are dispersed to content creators and distributors. Here is a democratic way to meet those expectations. There are four parts to the system: 1. The government acts as a fund collecting utility to amass a pool of funds through highly progressive taxation. 2. Under the condition that content is ad free, an independent body (In Canada I am suggesting CBC) is given the mandate to disperse these funds to content creators and distributors, based on use by the public. 3. Payment should be automatic; triggered by each use and where that is not possible triggered by independent surveys of use. 4. The user has the right to manually claw the automatic payment back to the pool of funds, if the user deems the content unworthy. _______________________________________________ Democratically Funded Ad Free Media no-ads.ca/about This system is meant to replace the current system of funding the media through advertising which has serious drawbacks for a democratic society.
