I wanted to recommend the Abbey pub for parties. We held a party this afternoon for our daughters second birthday. The function room is free to hire, we bought our own food which is a bonus making it cheaper and we were able to play our music through their speaker system so had our own playlist. Ed the landlord could not have been more helpful and kind providing some jugs of squash free of charge and letting us use a fridge to store food in. Ed said Sunday afternoons are good for parties as its quieter. I wanted to make sure they got the credit they deserve!
