I wanted to write this quick message to share with you three important points about completing your fast. 1) Changing what you eat and drink - Its likely that you will start eating some of the foods that were not allowed on the Daniel Fast. But do so thoughtfully. First, think about the great health benefits experienced on the fast. Continue on that path of health by adding only good foods. For example, lean meat, poultry and fish along with low-fat dairy.Second, slowly reintroduce meat and fatty foods and in small portions to avoid what can be very painful cramping. Your body has been used to simple and easily digested foods. So be sensitive to that and consume only small amounts at first. Also, the same goes for caffeine and sugar. Consume small amounts at first so you wont experience the effects of these stimulants in an uncomfortable way. 2) Consider what youve learned - Fasting is a transformational experience as we focus more of our attention on God and His ways. When you complete the fast, take some time and think about what you learned during this experience. What did you learn about God and His character? What did you learn about yourself and your relationship to your Lord? What did you learn about your health, the foods you eat and how you want to move forward? Also, think about prayers that have been answered and revelations you received. What good habits did you form during your fast, such as daily Bible reading and meeting with God through prayer and meditation. As you consider these things, praise God for the work He is doing in and for you. Thank Him specifically for answered prayers, guidance and the good that you experienced during this devotional time to Him. 3) Don;t stop! Keep going! During your fast you focused more of your attention on God and HIs Word. You may have developed some new routines and habits that are good for your spiritual growth, your lifestyle and your health. Carry those good lessons into your future! Hold on to the good you have experienced and let it continue to affect your life. You also want to keep up the momentum! Dont stop learning about the Lord and His ways. Continue to discover things about your own life and how you can align yourself more closely with Jesus and His teachings. And keep learning. The Bible teaches us that, In all your getting, get understanding. When we understand a Biblical truth and why acting on it is so important for our lives, we change! Understanding helps the seeds of Gods Word to take root in our souls so it becomes part of who we are. So keep learning and gaining more understanding about living the amazing life Jesus makes possible for us!
