I was at the gas station minding my own business when a car pulled up to the air and water dispenser and little cholito (16-17 year old gangster) hopped out followed by three equally if not younger white girls. The youngster popped the hood open, with the car running and proceeded to open the radiator cap. First mistake. Not sure if he can read, but it clearly states to NOT open while engine is hot. But, I thought it would be funny to watch him learn a valuable lesson. While all this is going on, the three girls were on stand by, watching their hero work. Let me remind you that the car is still running, still building pressure and still heating up. So after the 5th attempt at trying to loosen the cap and watching him flail his hand while getting burned, I saw him point at the cap while looking at one of the girls. At this point I knew I had to step in. No way in hell im going to watch a girl (child) or woman get them selves burned. Before she grabbed the cap I told her to turn off the car. The cholito looked at me crooked and I was very close to turning his frown into a pout. He says to me, my mom said to leave the car running. I said, well then go ahead and open that cap all the way, I pointed at the radiator cap, and lets see how this turns out. He shut his mouth and put his head down. All three girls looked at him and said, I told you to turn off the car. I told the boy to get the water hose and start putting water on the cap. Again, he looks at me like i was crazy and said, but the radiator is down here, he pointed at the radiator, why would I put water there? Because you need that cap off to put water into the radiator to cool off the car. I am assuming the car was overheating and this brings us to this point in time? They all nodded. Okay, well--you need to cool off the reservoir and the components around it to cool it off enough to safely remove the cap. But the water is hot, Mr. Know it all says. Is it hotter than the water in the engine? I asked. No, i dont think so, he replied. Okay, so the warm water coming out of the hose will cool off the boiling, skin melting water that is coursing through your engine and pipes, making it more safe for you to open the radiator cap. After a few minutes of doing this, he reaches in to undo the cap. One of the girls leans her face in to watch, about three feet away and the cap point right at her. I grab her and pull her aside, dont stand in front of the cap, if it explodes, youll have a face full of cap and scolding water all over you, I told her. The boy hesitated. Go on boss, I urged him. He reaches in and unscrews the cap without burning his hands, but a moment after the removed cap, dark, muggy water begins to spew out, spraying out towards the direction where the girl had been standing. See, i said. Now fill up the reservoir and then wait a min, and fill it up again because most likely it has no water at all and most will flow down the pipes. They all thanked me except for the hardcore cholito. If you have read this far then a commend you. If any boy ever comes to take my daughter out, he will go through a strenuous quiz involving an overheating car, oil check, tire check and tire change. Now, my daughter WILL be taught all the above incase the dumb ass boy isnt around, but rest assure, he will not be leaving my house with my daughter unless he can pass the test. Hunting and fishing skills for extra credit. She will need a man, not a thug who acts tough, or looks tough. All you 5 year olds reading this, you better start studying. Lol.
