I was cycling to several ATM locations of ACLEDA yesterday afternoon - to be exact it was 15:30 p.m. - to make a quick observation on withdrawal activity of its customers. It was just like a normal day before the election season. I think everything has returned to normalcy. That is great. This is different from what was taking place during 28-31 July when hundreds of customers rushed to cash. According to the Phnom Penh Post (02/07/2013), Standard & Poor said that customers of ACLEDA - a large bank with the highest number of ATM points across the country - withdrew US$ 4.0 million just in the evening of (last) Sunday (of July 28), which is 2-3 times more than the normal day. This happened mainly in Phnom Penh. It looks scary not just for ACLEDA or its customers, but the whole banking system. It is great that now everything goes back to normal.
