I was hired to work 11pm-7am, Monday-Wednesday. I DID check My schedule and confirmed that I was on the schedule for those shifts. I never looked at the weekends because I told the Manager in the interview that I am a flight instructor and have students on Saturdays & Sundays so I never gave it a second thought. Unbeknownst to Me (Robert) Neil did scheduled Me to work Sat & Sunday 3pm-11pm? And then come in to work 11pm-7am the next 3 nights?? Now I have been fired. I couldnt even reason with him as he was so angry on the phone. So I asked this is it? , his reply was yup! THEN Neil calls Me back a few minutes later and said we needed to talk about it? I have never been this jerked around by an employer ever before.Very early in My training, I do remember Neil telling Me that no one wanted to work Friday or Saturdays so I guess he felt he could just dump em on the new guy. Is it Cumberland Farms policy to schedule employees to work overnight shift and then 2nd shifts arbitrarily so close together ? I mean what about My sleep cycle? Had Neil told Me that this would happen in the interview, I would have never agreed to take the job. Are there not employees that already work those shifts? Why yank somebody off of 3rd shift and just schedule to whatever else the Manager cant schedule trying to fulfill other employees wishes? I dont think its fair or its right! Why is it MY responsibility to make sure in a few weeks that My hourly pay is what was agreed to upfront IN the initial interview? This is no way to do business or to treat your internal employees!
