I was inspired to write in the hope of peace - one can dream x DIVIDED Lisa Chapin-Wickwar (2014) In a world made of paper Under cities built from glass We fold the ragged edges To cover up the cracks Moving slowly through the pages Through words of all who passed Lines drawn across the ages Dividing, first till last With war above and love below We tentatively walk One chapter at a time, to know The lessons we are taught That God and power, wealth and greed Amount to written word Responsible for true belief A voice which should be heard We dare cross lines, of that we draw Break barriers of creed Protect our own and pay the price Defend when we should need We choose our weapon, or have none To fall amongst the lost Be it bullet, paper, scissors, rock Our lives, the final cost From walls of glass, we throw our stone To Inevitable discord Born from turn of pages told In hope of much reward Open your hands, let go the stone Place it gently down For each one laid will build a path Across divided ground
