I was moved to tears tonight by my son, Max. I wish I had thought to record him earlier in our conversation, but I was caught so off-guard by it. I was tucking him in and explaining why we were having a 3-day weekend. He asked me whos day it was on Monday and when I said Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. he told me that they learned all about him today in school and read 2 long books. Then he started getting choked up and I could tell he was really sad and he said He was shot and died. I wish I could have recorded what he said, it was so moving. A little later, I reached for my phone and here is the tail end of my conversation with my 4 year old. I love this kid. He implored me to take him to the library tomorrow to get 2 long books about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and he wants me to take him to see his memorial. How fortunate that we live about 9 miles away from it..
